Well , now i'm going to start repairing my seadoo.. the summer is coming and the skii is not ready..

Looking to the skii i got a surpise when i see that in the inferior part of the skii, there was no paint. And i can see the fiber.

What kind of paint you recommend me??

Regards! :p

( Later i will upload a photo of what i'm meaning.. )

Blimey you left it abit late! Lol, Summer will be here before you know it! Or so i keep telling my self, Im guessing you mean in the inside of the ski? Eg.. Engine bay? If so.. Nope there will be no paint as there not painted from factory! As for what type of paint... Id recommend a good quality gloss paint for exterior use, Thats what i used for mine and my relatives skis and it holds out pretty good, Or you could use 2k (2pac) automotive paint but that would mean sending it to your local bodyshop, I work in a bodyshop myself and its realy not worth the time and money going down that route, Just what ever you do do NOT use a rattlecan paint (aerosol paint) that stuff is crap for durability and because of the nature of what your painting, So yeah exterior gloss paint is what you want to use, No doubt some will disagree but believe me ive gone down that route and experienced many other routes to find the exterior gloss paint to be the best option unless of course your willing to waste money and time sending it to a bodyshop, Hope that helps!

So when you say quality gloss paint not rattle can you mean brush on house paint??? I got a spot on my ski that bothers me and I was gonna try krylon plastifusion on it.... It is on exterior bottom of hull...what kind of paint should I use??? What name brand?? What about color match???

If you want something permanent I would use Dupont Imron. However for touchup try using Rust-Oleum Farm Implement Yellow, it's a dead on match for the SeaDoo yellow.

manolocross: how do you use plastifusion? i never listened about it.

loudoo, if i paint with this spray can i paint all the hull? or you reccomend it only to paint the zone of the fiber?

Is DuPont imron a spraycan Lou or spraygun type??? Where can I get the rustoleum??

Imron is an involved process I would use it only if you need to do the entire hull, it's best applied by a professional.

The rustoleum I bought at Lowes.

Lou

Plastifusion is a spray can paint that is sold at hardware stores. Lou will the rust oleum work on bottom of hull and adhere well for touch or large spot coverage?

I honestly don't know, I used it on the hood of my 96GTI for dock rash. It worked great, it's been on for four years but it gets very little water contact. Give it a try, you might try a test spot first, for five bucks you can't loose.

This is the kit for the size carb. that you have, however I would be reluctant to buy it if it's not a genuine Mikuni kit, I can't read German and I can't tell.

Your ski uses two BN38-SB (square body) carbs.

Lou, Google Chrome is your best friend, when you hit a foreign site it will pop up with a translate button, just click it and you can read German or what ever.

Good luck with the ski. Just finished my 95 xp and it runs great after restoring fuel system, cleaning carburetor, changing filters, new oil injection line, new wear ring and solas intake grate. Didn't run at all when i bought it but its a beast now. I can barely hold on when i accelerate sometimes. These guys helped me the entire way and there is no way i could have done it without them.

thanks mikekim , i have one question for you.. did you finded difference bettwen the old and the new solas intake grate? :)

does the pad cover of a 98-99 XP Limited ,serve for my skii? I just find one in good state and if i can change de original for this my skii will be beauty

The pad cover of my skii is rotten..

Its hard to say because I changed the wear ring at the same time but doing both made a huge difference. Hooks up in chop a lot better now. Before I changed the wear ring and intake grate, I was having serious cavitation issues. I only ride in the ocean and it gets really choppy where i live. It had no low end and acceleration but would get up to speed if the throttle was wide open but took forever. Now it jumps out of a standstill and when i accelerate I can barely hold on.

I'm changing mine to a cover and pad from another seadoo. Check out this handle bar pad and cover.

The handlebar cover and pad on jetskigoodies XP looks awesome. I'm trying to replicate it but everything doesn't fit right so Im making a custom bracket to fit the pad and the cover is a little bit bigger so I have to figure something out. I think the pad and cover come off a older gtx but not sure. I got one from Minnetonka. My pad was rotten too. I'm just riding around with the Styrofoam ducked taped to the handlebars.

What kind of repairs and restoration are you planning for you XP? Looks like you're rebuilding your carburetor. Anything else?

I want to restore both of the skiis, the problem is that I need money and now I'm a little poor :toetap05:

I would like to restore them the parts of engine and aesthetic part.. as soon as I can i will upload a photos showing anything as I want to do! .

Wat batteriy do you wear on your ski?? :)

I use a 16clb battery from walmart. It's my first ski so I'm not sure how much better the sealed batteries are versus the one I got. So far works great. I might change my mind next year if its not holding a charge

Sorry mikekim , i didn't explained well, i ask for the amperes of your batterie. 12V.., . amp? because if the battery charge is very low on this skiis , they stop , I'm right?
