Scupper valve or something else?

I posted this issue last year and the forum was great as usual in solving the issue. But I took the boat out and the same problem seems to have come back. Water was coming into the boat through the drain hole. So last year everyone suggested a new scupper valve....great!!! fixed the leaks, so to speak, but the same problem has come about again and I wondering if anyone else has had this issue and if so what they did about it? Simply replace the $20-$35.00 scupper valve every year??? :ack:

What kind of scupper valve are you using? I would suggest a ball style scupper availible from west marine. If you already have this kind, try removing it and resealing with marine appoxie.

Mine was leaking, resealed it and haven't had any problems since.

I just realized my boat has no scupper valve at all the end of the deck drain house. I checked while working on the pump because I saw this thread. Is just open I can see the inside of the plastic house that goes up to the deck drain hole. The funny thing is that i never got any water on my deck backing out from the deck?

Cypher you have a part number for that valve?

Not sure if you were the guy we discussed this with earlier, but try this one from west marine. $13 called a ball scupper (guy above me was talking about it, I think).

I have it on mine and never have any problems.

Samething on my challenger, stud...looked inside, all was, was a "cross-hatch" in the rubber, but yet, not a drop of water get inside boat..

I did actually replace it last year with the ball scupper valve but I think I will try to re-seal it as suggested, I don't think I did seal it the first time I put the new (old)scupper valve on last year. Thanks for all the responses. What kind of sealent is best? Just any marina appoxie?

I used the 3M marine appoxie.
