Had a great day racing, won the 2 stroke class!

The prop and shaft worked great, im not sure how much the slight change in pitch made- i went from 16/23 to 16/22
I was only hitting 6600rpm and didnt sound as crisp as before, I checked the raves etc. Ive been told to check the water box sprayer but its not easy to get to past the rear pipe which i assume needs to come out

Looks nice! I had an RXX back in the day and it was mucho fun. Bought it from the original owner and it came with all the original paperwork which was a nice read. Those hulls would definitely give you a workout after even a couple hours of riding though. Definitely gotta be in shape to drive one.

Yeh its a workout, racing it really takes a lot of effort.

My EGT gauge, bearings and seals arrived today, pump is re-built and back in the ski

This is a really cool read. What exactly was the RXX? I need a Seadoo history lesson.

Just read this for the first time, I will own one sometime soon. Let one slip through my hands last month... $100 more and I would have had it. Damn eBay!

Krispy, think of it as a full race ski out of the box. Pretty much every aftermarket part was on it- direct from Sea-Doo on the dealers showroom floor.

Got my Koso EGT gauge mounted up this afternoon, tomorrow ill see if i can get some extension cables for the K type thermocouples to get the length ill need between the gauge and exhaust manifolds

As smc0922 said, it was an out of the box race ski

The main things the RXX got over the RX was:
Re-inforced hull blueprinted
Twin pipes
Skat trak 14 vein set back pump
UMI steering
K&N filter
Modified Carbs
Dump lever VTS
Race sponsons
Different timing curve

When my one was new back in 2001 (in Australia and in AUD), my local Seadoo mechanic bought it from the factory
A top of the range ski on a trailer was $14,000
The RXX was $25,000 with no trailer
At the time the pipes, pump and steering to buy aftermarket would have been almost $12,000 here

Today i stripped the pipes out and pulled the engine, dropped off the cylinders and egt adaptors to get bored out, welded and ported.
Look out 1050!!

The Build

We built the engine this evening, spent ages cleaning, polishing nuts, bolts and parts, scraping and blocking but got it all together. The rave spades had to be shortened to clear the pistons now that they are so much bigger.

The sleeves are thin so run in and warm ups are going to have to be gentle. You can just see the EGT gauge adaptors welded on the sides of the exhaust outlets

Nice big pistons with booster ports.

All lubed up and pistons in.

The Mel Miller Head and kit are such high quality and really stunning to look at.

All done, ready to bolt into the ski Wednesday after work

Sooooo wicked! Thanks for the pictures of the pipe install...nice to see how they go in.

Ive learned the hard way that the pipes go in but only just and in exactly the right order. Getting the mag pipe into the hull is the tricky part.
Steps to install, or reverse to remove
1. the 2-1 collector that joins to the water box
2. the PTO pipe, including its header pipe
3. carbs in and all hoses and cables attached but not bolted in
4. the mag pipe, without its header pipe
5. mag header pipe and bolt onto engine
6. bolt on carbs
7. install air filter

We ran it on the hose and bled the oil system

I'm digging this thread. I just found it and it's right on time. I think I'll buy myself a minty RXX today(I'm serious).

Ah man, he doesn't by chance have two? I am looking to pick one up myself.. It's so hard to find these things due to the limited number.

No but it took this one forever to sell. Another one slipped through ebay earlier this year for $2750. For near that money Ocod is getting me a de-tuned runner but with the original engine(hole in case) and twin pipes. The days of people waiting for one to come up for sale so they can be first to pay 4-6 grand for it are over, you will just have to travel to get it.

Look at this youtube....bet you gotta watch it at least twice. If that thing ain't fling then...........http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...ibmSErSd6VWmI3xXYJFBF5Q&bvm=bv.49405654,d.aWc

i've had somewhat lengthy discussion with wayniac on the subject of RXX, mainly because I was looking at the same ski, (just not a fit for me) I was looking to source out the performance parts. (omg !) and had everything figured out.

anyways... he says' they show up in fairly frequently, and go for about 3K ish running... this probably means that they show up about as often as a 99spx :) which really means that the bottom is truely dropping out on the 2 stroke market when you can buy a running rxx for 3K or less.
