Hi all,

I'm running a 2005 215hp rxp rotax engine in a mini jet boat, just rebuilt the engine including the primary and secondary oil pumps.
When I sit on 5500 revs or above for about 2- 3mins and then drop the revs back it automatically goes into limp mode beeping and oil written on the dash, there is no fault code that comes up and when i turn it off and back on again a few seconds later, it'll go again???
Any advice on what I need to look at to sort this issue would be appreciated.

Cheers

You have to check the fault code while it is happening. Once you shut if off, it will not show up since it only displays active fautlts and the only way to see it is with BUDS. Sounds like your rear oil pressure switch is bad.

I agree with ski-d00. I would replace both oil pressure switches though.

Jave had a look with BUDS but code, but I do have a VTS fault showing its shorting to ground, may have something to do with it

I'm pretty sure that all OIL faults will trigger a code(there are a few that don't). It will not be an active code, it will be inactive and go to "occurred" and give you a count to how many times it has triggered in the past. So when it says OIL, have you tried pressing set 5 times?

Yes I have tried pushing set 5 times and I only get the VTS shorted to ground code,
Have had a look at occurred codes as there was a few there that happened last year but still no oil faults. I will sort the VTS code issue and maybe run the engine until it faults again and try pushing set 5 times as soon as it goes into limp mode or do you think I should change both oil switches anyway?

After you get the first code, you have to press mode to scroll through to see if there are more codes. It will say END when there are no more codes. I'd get the code first before you change them.

Yes, went through to the end, only VTS code, but not while the alarm was up.
Will get it to alarm and check it this weekend.
