RXP 2004 with 284 or 285 hours on it & another Washer failure
Hello To all,
I have a 2004 Rxp 6115 model if my memory serves me correctly. I have 284 or 285 hours on the ski and it has not been driven too harshly just some wide open throttles here and there. Now I can only get 6400 rpm's and 52mph on the speedometer. So based on what I have read on the forums my super charger washers (ceramic) must have broke.
Everything is original on this ski and I have had it serviced and winterized every winter. The dealer did not do the Super Charger rebuild on it at 200hours like the manual says to do. So everything is as it was from the factory.
With that being said I would like to get this repaired and fixed the correct way. Please advise me of all parts and kits that should be bought and used when I go to do this repair. I will be doing this myself with the help of another mechanic/friend of mine. I did look on the forums and saw a kit for 349.99 but that was from a older thread/post.
So again to be clear please advise me on any and all parts, kits, and things that should be looked at, changed, fixed, or done while I will be fixing the ski.
Right now I will be just opening up the super charger and looking to see if I can find the ceramic washers then I will be trying to replace those washers with metal ones. Please also advise me of where/what site is the best place to buy the metal washers from as I saw 2 different kinds to choose from if I remember correctly.
Thanks in advance with your help in this matter. I am sure you understand how upsetting this is and the fact this happened to me in the middle of the lake and stranded me. I had to paddle back to dock took me hours.........

This site offers a rebuild service using all Seadoo parts and the correct update kits as well.

There is a chance they didn't break and simply worn. PRAY that is the case. If they did break and dropped into the oil bath and then got pumped into the engine, you will have a pretty extensive repair and or cleaning process...

YOu mentioned this site offers the kit but I di dnot get the site you did not give the link to it......?

Also a update here as I think I should have been more clear as to what happened on my ski when it failed on me on the water leaving me stranded in the middle of the lake. So I was WIDE open throttle on the lake and it felt like I sucked up a fish or something was causing a power drop in the motor. So I slowed down so I could get home. Then the motor cut off when I tried to go WIDE OPEN again so I could get home quicker. Then the battery died so I started paddling for hours to get back to the dock. Eventually Some folks helped me back to the dock (another story) after hours of paddling. So when I got ski back to the dock I tried to start it again and to my surprise it started up barely. So then I drove the ski near the dock hoping to find out what was wrong. It was clear REALLY QUICK I was only getting 6400 RPM'S & the speedometer said 52 so I quickly drove it back to the dock as I knew it must be the ceramic washers that failed (A guess). When I was driving it near the dock there was no unusual noises or nothing appeared to be wrong with the ski or motor other then the super charger was clearly not working as I could not hear it. Also it was not showing or throwing up any codes when you hit the (set button 5 times) to see if the screen will display any codes.

Also I forgot to ask do you know where I can buy a oil filter and oil from the best site you guys recommend?

Thank you for that info.
Can you also recommend where I can buy oil, oil filter, and all the kits/parts needed for the rebuild and fixing my ski.
I did see the site you gave me has some (the impeller) on there but did not no where to get the rest of the items I will need please advise me thanks.

pull the sc and see what it looks like. there is a good chance that your washers broke and there will be ceramic pieces floating around in your engine which will ruin your engine. you need to find every last piece of washer. you should pull the pto housing and check the oil pump and screen for pieces. the longer you run it after they break, the worse it will be.

the sc should have been rebuilt at 100 hours, they normally don't make it to 285 hours without coming apart like yours probably did. also, you should have rebuilt yours right away due to having the ceramic washers. you need a new dealer if they didn't tell you this.

Thanks I concur with you I do need a new dealer I went to 3 of them as 2 of them closed they sucked anyways....

1st off thanks for everyone helping me with my questions on here and please bare with me I am new to this and I will a lot more. I am reading up on this and I have a great mechanic who is going to help me so I should be okay with all your help HERE AS WELL. So thanks in advance for that.
With that being said I am a POSITIVE person and I want to be + here and hope for the best..... When we get it apart I will tell you what's WHAT....
As for now here are some more ?'s I thought of.....
1st off what does "pull the PTO anyway" PTO MEANS DEFINE EXPLAIN PLEASE.....
l
next I saw some ( think don't quote me here) metal washers and there were 2 different kinds I believe for sale. Please advise me on what the differences are if any and where/what metal washers are the better ones to get?

Also wanted to mentioned something very strange that happened to me and my ski right before all this s........... went down and I lost power. I am not sure IF THIS IS RELATED AND that is why I am telling your here to get your opinion and see if you think its related or something totally (another problem)?
So like 2 times I took the ski out (this was like 1 month before the s/c crapped out on me) I noticed when I got the ski back on dry land (my trailer) that inside my ski I had a lot of water visually. Normally I have little to no water that will be visible in the bottom of my ski. In fact usually when I pull the drain plugs very little (if any at all) water comes out. But for SOME UNKNOWN REASONS 2 different times my ski collect and released quite a bit of water when I pulled out the drain plugs. WEIRD AS HELL B/C IT HAS never done this and DID NOT DO IT AGAIN.....
What could have caused this to happen a couple of times and why?
Do you think this is related and if so how?
Remember this only happened 2 or 3 times ever and it happened about 1 month before the loss of power.......

PTO - Power Take Off, this is nothing more than the item that is bolted onto the back of the engine and where the drive shaft (part the impeller is on) slides into.

Metal Washers, I assume this is in reference to the Super Charger (SCr). 2004 to 2008 had Ceramic Washers installed (and some early 2009). The washers would fail and the ceramic would drop into the oil bath and the gear drive line and pretty much destroy the engine. Seadoo has "updated washers" to replace the ceramic washers with these updated Metal Washers. Replacing them is a MUST do if you have them. Further, the 09 model SCr has an updated shaft as well. So, if you need a rebuild, get the full update kit. This site (Sedoo forum) does a full rebuild with updated OEM Seadoo parts for $405 which includes shipping back to you. Pretty hard to beat that price...

I will assume you do not have a coolant leak as it would be antifreeze and green in color. What it most likely is, is the Carbon Seal. This seal functions by nothing more than pressure from the bellows that pushed the collar onto the face of the carbon seal. If the seal is worn out, the bellows are weak or torn, or an engine mount is broken, it can cause it to leak. If this fails, it can sink the ski. I'll find a picture of the seal and post it..

The part surrounded in purple is the COLLAR. The part to the left is the CARBON SEAL. They need to fit very flat and square. No angle or off-center fit. Look at yours and see what it looks like. If you can, post a picture.

(This picture is from a fellow member, don't recall who I "borrowed" it from).

Hello 1st off thanks for the picture and answering my ?'s to you.
I still don't know where to buy the stuff I need on this site can you post a link please.
I am not good with the forums and don't like the layout no offense to anyone I am just not familiar with anything here....

I will have to look at the bellows however not anytime soon as the ski is at my mechanics friends house and will be dissected in a couple of weeks 3-4 weeks.

Please advise me on where to purchase the oil filter, oil, rebuild kit, metal washers, and all other parts I will need to fix my ski?

Thank you for your help.

Oil and filters are available at some local parts houses as well as on Amazon, ebay, or other PWC online stores. Very easy to get. From my looking there are 2 filters available, one the OEM Seadoo filter and one from K&N(KN-556). While you are at it, Get some new spark plugs as well as these SuperCharged engines tend to use them up faster than others. I bought spare plugs at Advance autoparts, you can order them online for store pickup and get 15% discount. They also carry the K&N oil filter (KN-556).

As for SC rebuild kits... I would get the entire kit. Washers , bearings, shaft, seal etc. This is available from many places as well. Some swear by only the OEM Seadoo parts and others say the SBT kit is just as good.

If you only have one SC to do you may do just about as well to ship it in and have it rebuilt while you are working on other things and not have to buy the tool kit, Your choice! (I plan to do my own as I have a pair of these to do when the time comes. That way I can spread the cost of the tool kit over 2 builds at once.)

There are a few videos on youtube if you decide to do it yourself. Search those out and watch them all. Some helpful info there.

Hope this helps!
Don

Thank you for your help.

You can purchase our Supercharger Rebuild Service and we can send you what you need with your return shipment (filter, oil etc). Here is the service info: Sea-Doo Supercharger Rebuild Service

Give us a call at 888.605.2335.

We use, and recommend everyone use, the Sea-Doo OEM rebuild kit. SBT and others aren't even close in quality, especially the bearings.

Additionally, here is a video we made for the service.

I have a 2004 RXP and a 2005 RXT under 50 hrs each. I bought new upgraded model - 200 hr time till rebuild. The case is heavier duty than the earlier models.
Check if your SC lost anything parts off of it. If so, then you may need to clean the oil pick up screen. Some ceramic washers that have failed can plug up the oil supply system.
Options after that....

1 Buy tools and rebuild kit. Go only with OEM rebuild parts. $ search

2 Send out the SC to get rebuilt. $ get quote with upgrades + shipping.

3 Buy newer model from factory. $799 - I was able to get my local dealer to match the internet Deals out the door.

Then reinstall per manual. Use lock tight and dump engine oil into the SC before installing. Stay under 5,000 rpms for an hour checking five to ten minutes at first for any unusual vibrations. Little break-in time.

Oil change prior to new SC install.

Sometime a loss of power is due to the spark plug failing. The craft takes off and then dies down like the if it went into limp mode. The SC models eat up plugs. Carry extra plugs in your onboard tool kit.

So again What I need is all of your help with what parts to get to do this job correct and to fix everything and MOST IMPORTANT SOME links on what websites are the best for buying all the parts.
Please advise me on some websites where to buy and which brand/kind of part is the best for my ski.

THanks for the video....
Do you guys in tampa fl who made the video just sell the parts? If so please give me a link so I can buy them again I AM DOING THE WORK with my friend.

I use the online parts catalogue, then call and then you get the newer rollover part numbers.

As a premium members get access to the engine maintenance manuals etc. all the torque specs.

If you get the rebuild kit, it has directions. The engine manuals with updates has the SC component directions as well. Read this.

Researching is very educational. Read up. Part numbers and manuals change. Suppliers change.
