Hi all,

i have just purchased a seadoo rx mill edition, and i started (whilst on trailer) Rio (my son has given it a name lol) and then added the hose-as advised start first then add hose-and it seems to be extremly noisy and loud-it seems to be idling at around 3000RPM (i know nothing about pwc's but i would have expected to see idle at about 1500RPM) and there seems to be a rather loud intermitting vibrating noise coming from the impeller area.

I am new and have never owned a pwc before so know nothing about it and what they are supposed to sound like.

any help is very much appreciated.

Thanks

Congratulations and welcome to the forum.

Actually that sounds about right for being out of the water, maybe a little high, I would put it in the water before I did anything. The vibrating noise you are hearing is probably the "SeaDoo Rattle", this is caused by play in the drive shaft, this will go away when its in the water, above an idle.

thanks for the help lou, much appreciated, was getting really worried there, will be putting it in water today, one other thing, when i gave it a tiny bit of throttle (whilst on trailer) it seemed almost as if revs went high stayed high then came back down gradualy-is this normal?

iv owned crossesr before and can only compare what i know from them-and they were ultra responsive-touch throttle it goes up-let go and revs drop.

thanks

Yes, by your description it sounds normal. Just remember that out of the water there is no load on the motor and it will spin up faster.
Jet pumps will also make some noise (rattle) out of the water, as well, with no load on them.
Since you just purchased the ski, I would service the jet pump mainly for peace of mind.

3000rpms out of the water and 1500 to 1800 in the water.

Thanks for all your help guys/gals, am putting Rio in the water today so fingers crossed everything is fine.

Will post back on here to let you all know.

Thanks again

Didnt manage to get her in the water yesterday sadly as when i finished work it was low tide.

however, i did start her up and found that the throttle seemed to be sticking open-hence the high idle rev i guess and hence the staying high when given throttle, so i tried to find where the throttle cable was-very hard when you only have spanners lol, couldnt find the cable itself but did find, tucked underneath a breather pipe (i think thats what it was anyway) was a mechanism that was moving when ever i pulled the throttle lever, so i twisted the little stopper (guessing thats the idle regulator screw-or something like that lol), it was abit of trial and error but i did eventually get it to idle at around 2100, i also sprayed some WD-40 on the mechanism and "Bobs your uncle!" the throttle didnt stick anymore! yay!

Problem solved???

Who knows, i guess i'l find out in 2 weeks when i take her out next!

Also booking her in for a service-just a pain the closest SeaDoo specialist is 100miles away! :-(

Thanks for all your advice and help guys/gals

Google your ski. Then download a repair/service manual and do the work yourself.

Hi all, picked ski up yesterday from seadoo specialist.

Had full 100hr service due to it havin 129 on the clock. It needed the pump liner replaced and that was it (apart from some new lube, plugs etc) which is good news-total cost for service and replacing liner- £272

Not bad I suppose-next stop, water!!!!

Thanks for all ur help and advice guys
