Hello everyone.

I recently blew out a bottom end in my 1998 SeaDoo Sportster 1800 and had to replace it. I recieved the new short block and after installing some parts I noticed that Bombardier also gave me a new rotary valve... which is great but there is one small problem. I marked the original rotary valve and shaft so as to install it in the correct possition. And with new parts, said marks are no longer there.

There are three marks on the end of the shaft which I imagine are either for possitioning the valve or were created durring the machining process. The three marks are located at equal thirds around the end of the shaft.

Any help would be great!

Cheers,
Zac Mahoney

bring front piston to TDC. Then draw/imagine line from center of gear to outer rv surface, all the while, the line is going directly under the hole, mark the suface, then do agian, going on top og hole. Those are yuor 0*. The top mark, go 65* down, bottom marking, go 147* up...if tips of blades dont line up with markings, flip the valve...

Thanks for the quick reply! But one problem. Your directions were a little hard to understand. Could you please clarify them for me? I'm used to working with reed vlaves and not rotary valves so this is rather new to me.

from the rotory valve gear, in center of that, draw lines from center of gear to outside surface edge of rv cavity, going above and below the front hole, so your line is hitting top edge/bottm edge of hole, continue with line to outer surface and those markings are yuor 0*
