I'm a rookie buyer and after spending some time on this site, I still have a question. Here's the specs of the buy:
'97 GTI 718CC
250 hours
I've already downloaded the "buyer checklist" -- thanks by the way -- but my question is this: I know with airplanes there are certain numbers to keep in mind when it comes to overhauling an engine. So I would like to know about the 250 hours on this one. Is this high? What kind of number should I keep in mind? I do know that there are some unknowns as of right now (don't know if anything has been replaced, carb rebuild, etc) but I'm looking for a starting point.
I've done the Kelly Blue Book pricing and for my area the price seems really good. He's moving and can't take it with him. This I do know as I have talked to him briefly.
