Hey Guys
I wrote a thread the other day asking about info. on "moving in neutral" and after further checking I found that the reverse gate on the starboard side sits about an half an inch higher that the port side. I'm sure thats what is making the boat move in neutral but I can't see any way of adj. that gate lower. The only thing I can think of would be that the rod holding the two gates must have been welded a little off when they were made.
Does anybody know if this is normal or what?
Thanks Bill

Reverse Gates

No, there is one cable to the port side and a rod connecting the two in the middle. You can adjust both at the same time but not one without the other.
Go figure. But thanks anyway.

It does seem to be a very poor design but I can be wrong as I have never laid my eyes on your type of reverse gate. When looking at part 34 may be it has a adjustment but I did not see one in your parts list. If their was no adjustment on the reverse gate than what I would probly do is take part 34 to a machine shop and let them work it so that it would be adjustable. Like I have said I have never seen your set up so their may be a beter aproach. Good luck Robin. http://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche.com/seadooforums/Seadoo_oem/Seadoo_JB.asp?Type=13&A=94&B=14

Thanxs everybody for the help.
I'm thinking that I need to take part#35 and cut it in half and reweld it just a pinch to raise up the reverse gate. I would like to know if its supposed to be that way.

Thanxs all.

You could do that but if I was going to cut it I would make it adjustable. As timmyboy said it is probbly bushings but I would still thought they should have made it adjustable so when you have a litle wear in the bushings you can adjust it out.

they don't have a neutral. they say they do, but they don't. even a single engine GTI you can't find that perfect spot where it will stay still. if the reverse gates move up high enough to clear the pump flow in forward, you are about as good as you are gonna get.

After rereading your post I would put the boat in the water and see if I could find a more nuetral position useing the shifter lever. If the boat is moving forward then move the shifter lever a litle in the reverse direction and see if you can find a happy spot. If you are able to find a happy place [neutral] then I would believe that you should be able to make the addjustment a the shifter cable. :)
