return line restrictor

I have a quick question? I have a 2000 gti 717, does the return line from carb have a restrictor in the fuel line hose, or is it built into the carb itself? Because I have a hesitation problem when I give it gas from an idle position! Any help would be appreciated.

To my knowledge there is no restrictor in any fuel lines, could be wrong.. Hesitation can be caused my poorly tuned carbs. Have yours ever been off, cleaned, rebuilt? Did they change the fuel lines in that year yet or still grey? How many hours on machine. Whats your compression?

On Dual carb models,
The PTO carb has it built in. The Mag carb does not, but it has the fuel pump.

Yes, you probly have Grey Tempo fuel-line syndrome, a dirty carb.

Thanks for the reply Bills86e I will try what you suggested. I have one other question should I have pressure in the fuel tank when my gti is just sitting there not running? when I go to refuel I notice a lot of pressure at the cap when I unscrew it. Thought this might be a contributing factor?

you got an excel pump on the carb. If anything, the brass fitting, prtruding into carb, is clogged.

Pull carb, go thru it, replace grey fuel lines, clean the sleelctor switch, and you'll be ready.

Yes, over-pressure in the delivery system can FORCE the needle valve open.
One of the four fuel bafel nipples is the breath VENT line. Goes to a tee or Y fitting
that branches, one going up to a one-way valve to allow air IN, up to thru-hull to a breath bugle fitting. Other line goes thru a OUT one-way valve and vents over-pressure thru-hull under the rub-rail. Both valves are the same, except oriented in-
line directionally. Unless clogged, open at 3-5PSI. Your Pop-off Tester is very handy
to check the one-way valves operation. I have used my air-chuck, lightly. Bills86e

You should have a small expell when removeing gas cap. It is a pressureized system.
