Resetting Maint light GTI SE 1300 / 2008

Maybe easy maybe hard! So there is no info in the owners manual on how to reset the maint light [oil change time]. Dealers say only can do it by bringing it in and having it reset. On my older LRV you can reset my pressing the SET button for like 3-5 seconds. So is it true or not that only a dealer can reset.

just disconnect the ground from the battery for a minute or so......:ack:
