I have a new to me 97 GSX with a intermittent post. I can put an ohm meter on it and at times get an open reading and others get continuity, both with the 'key' or safety cap installed. I assume the magnet is not always moving or making contact. Is there any maintenance or repair that can be done?
Thanks in advance,
Khris

PS....it sat for about the last four years,, if that has anything to do with the issue.

Well, I should probably buy a new one.....however, tonight, on the trailer, it started 25 times in a row. Probably will not in the water though...

its better to just replace it. think about if is starts coming off the trailer, your think everything is good and you get over to the other side of the lake, river whatever and it starts acting up/ goes completely. thats not a fun trip/swim back to the loading ramp.

Whether you replace the DESS post or not, check and clean ALL electrical connections using die-electric grease.
Will save a lot of headaches in the future.
