red maint light on dash?

I just bought the ski, a 99 gsx ltd.
this is the first I've noticed the red light come on on the dash when I first start it up, it goes away after a few seconds. Is this part of the on board diagnostics? I didn't get an owners manual with the ski.

nope, just let'n you know, battery was weak, after firing up, but the rectifier, will then put charge on it.
