Recovering Seadoo seats

Has anyone gone to a local fabric store an purchased marine vinyl to recover their seats? My 2003 GTI LE-RFI has developed a few small cracks along the seated surface and has some fading from the first owner and sunscreen as I recall. I am motivated and feel the first question is whether to remove the old or to apply the new vinyl over the old with contact spray and galvanized screws into the plastic seat frame from the bottom. Any suggestions?

Im not sure on patching. But the seat on my machine has a cover and it looks like it went on right over the old one using staples. Its from dydro turf.. Nice covers if your looking to spend a little more money.
