Any suggestions for 1st startup and break-in procedures for freshly rebuilt 787 on my 97 challenger......

1) Make sure the oil injection is ready to go. (properly bleed)

2) Put a little oil down each carb. (1/2~1 oz)

3) Put oil in the fuel tank. (you need to run extra oil for the first tank)

4) Put it in a lake

5) Start it on the trailer, and check for leaks, and set the idle.

6) if that is good.... then go enjoy it. A few full throttle blasts is good for break it. Basically, don't abuse... and don't baby it either. AND... DO NOT let it stay at one RPM for a long time.

I like to give it steady increase in throttle from stopped to about 3/4 throttle to help seat the rings. Def do vary rpms. May get varying responses but feel two tanks of gas and should be good to go. Extra oil in the first tank of gas on no di engines. For my 657x I added about 30 oz of oil to the first tank of gas.

Is it bad to add a small amount of oil in every tank or is there no point?

It's fine. All that will happen is there will be more smoke, and you may foul plugs.

If the injection is working (and Seadoo's is very reliable) there's no reason to add oil. But if it makes you feel better... then go ahead.

I normally add it after a rebuild, or if I serviced the oil system.
