Hey guys,

Just did the typical winterizing on my machines this last weekend, so I thought I would dig into the pumps for the first time.

My 97 GTX has had a cavitation issue all season and I have been meaning to get in there and check the wear ring, etc. So I pulled the pump, sure enough the wear ring is trashed. The impeller looks brand new though (the guy said he had it replaced after sucking in some rocks, guess they thought the wear ring didnt need replacement for some reason :cuss:)

Anyway, all that aside. I need to buy me a impeller removal tool to do that, I pulled the cone to check the oil and guess what, water. No oil in sight! I am really surprised it didnt lock up on me out on the water, it always ran great other than the caviation.

So I wonder since I am ordering a tool from SBT, should I just order new bearings right off the bat? I have not seen em yet since I dont have the impeller off, but it still spins freely. I just wonder if they are trashed from all that water and lack of oil. If I can, I will try and combine what I have to into one order :)

Thanks for any input

pump

with, no oil, the thrust bearing will wear out quickly. Personally, I'd replace the bearings and order all my parts at once to save on shipping

:stupid: You are gonna have it all apart anyway. Might as well do it now while it is apart and pay for shipping once.

That's what I was kinda thinkin, I will just order it all at once, thanks for the feedback guys....
