Quick question on RAVE valves.

I know this is a dumb question but which way do the rave valves go in? I dont know if the previous owner had them in backwards.

I just got them all cleaned up and ready to put back in and just want to make sure which way.

I would think that the writing TOP would be on top facing the sky but I read a post where a guy had TOP facing the spark plugs.

Funny that my factory seadoo manual doesnt say.

Yes, the side that says top goes up. Which, coincidently, is towards the spark plugs. Where's the confusion?

Thank you for the reply. I was thinking about it backwards when I was typing it up on the computer. For some reason I thought the raves angled towards the carbs.

Hey buddy I have another question for you if your kind enough to help me out.

I have a 1996 GTX that won't go over 5500 rpm 40 mph with one person on it. On the trailer it will hit 7000. I thought it might have been the raves but they were working fine.

I have been through the complete fuel system. Other than the sending unit because it looks like a PIA to get out.

Any ideas?

Any tricks to get the sending unit out?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check the water regulator (on the waterbox) for damage/leaks. A quick check while on the water, disconnect the water line from the regulator to the exhaust pipe and only run it long enough to see if it will rev past 6700 RPM.

Ok, thank you for your reply. I have taken it out before and it looked pretty good. The little screw together clamp came off so I put it back on with some loctite. The metal spring clamp wasn't rusty but I did notice it was hitting the rubber bellow a little bit so I ground down the ears of the clamp a little so it wouldnt hit anymore.

Do I need to plug any of the fittings?

i am having the exact same issue. hits 7200 when i'm air borne then drops to 5800 once i dig back in. can't get it to go over 6000 on glassy water. been thru it from one end to the other. still digging for answers, .... http://www.seadooforum.com/showthread.php?t=32345&highlight=fine+tuning

No need to plug any fittings.

It's the small water line that goes from the water regulator to the exhaust pipe.

Cool buddy thanks for your reply. I'll give it a shot. I was also thinking of disconnecting the red wire to the rectifier, and bypassing the fuel selector valve. One of these have to be messing with me.

I'm waiting on my new fuel float from Parker Yamaha so as soon as it comes in I'm off to the lake to test it out.
