Is there any difference between what some people call "the supercharger clutch" vs. "the supercharger washers/bearings" ? or are the 2 both mean and refer to the same thing?

There isn't a clutch as such. The washers your referring to ar the thrust washers that absorb sudden changes from say jumping waves so as not to damage anything internally in the SC. The washers will start slipping and your top rpm's will drop to 6500 indicating you need to replace them. If you let it go it could destroy the oil pump and other engine problems.

Thanks for the quick & informative reply.

After about how many hours do you recommend to just replace the washers even if the ski is running 100% without any loss of RPMs / thrust / speed?.

I have about 80 hrs on a 2009 RXT-X and was considering doing the maintanace job before next season starts so that we dont have any problems in the middle of the summer when we are riding.

Seadoo recommends you do a check of the SC at 100 hours. A lot of owners do the replacement at that same time of use. If your mechanically inclined you could do the replacement your self and save some money. We could help you out here.

Yeah, I want to replace the SC on the ski. I think thats the best option to do it before the breakdown occures somewhere out on the water.

You do not need to replace it only rebuild it. New supercharger is $740. Rebuild kit is $320. Best thing to do is get the washers from Riva and the bearings from a dealer and just replace that.
