Quick adjust trim nozzle?

Has anyone tried or seen a system that will make full up to full down trim changes happen fast? I have seen lever operated nozzles on youtube for stand ups and was thinking of building a system into my 94 XP.

I'm thinking of linking in a short cable from a hand lever into the stock cable at the trim motor mount.

I only trim full up to do tail stands at low throttle so I'm guessing the lever idea can over come the nozzle thrust. I know the thrust will stop the nozzle, using the stock motor, from trimming up as far as I modded my nozzle to do. I'm using that knowledge to assume the nozzle will hold a steady, straight back level, setting when the lever is released.

Lots of things to work out with getting full nozzle travel out of a hand lever, leverage vs thrust, building a cable mount and tying the cables together somehow.

Any experience out there on this idea?

Do you think a friction lock would hold the trim tight enough not to move? I have an aircraft throttle cable with a friction lock. You could also buy a mixture cable for an airplane but they are in the $200 range I think. The Mixture cable "locks" and you can dial it for fine tuning or push the button to free it up and allot quick movements.

You could also make detent set up (ball and spring type) if that would hold. Simply drill a sleeve with enough radial thickness to insert a threaded (ball and spring). Then you make a shaft that will slide through with radius (round bottom) grooves spaced as you think you need them. Drill and tap the end so you can connect a cable.... the other end so you can install a push pull knob. You'd need bushings at either end.

There are quite a few manual trim setups out there, both cable driven and hydraulic. Those are typically used in racing to drop the trim for cornering, then go back to 1/2 or a little higher, but not full up and down. I've got a redtop cable deiven and an R&D hydraulic laying around. Nick at Westside powersports had the Baker version remade a while back.

Thanks for the replies.

Now I have some directions to go in with research. Still five months away from flowing water........ dang...

My Grandfather in law was an aircraft mechanic on bush planes and left behind a garage full of plane parts. The rest of his estate is gone except for his workshop, I'll have to sneak in there and see if anything looks promising.

I'll start looking into the PWC specific kits now that I have some manufacturers names to follow.

An ideal setup would be a system that locks the cable in place, press up and the system releases the cable positions the nozzle and locks the cable all in a second or less. It would be a system that is full up, full down and mid way for the best speed. I can build the logic with basic ice cube relays and micro limit switches. The rest?????? I'll figure that one out..... sometime..... later.....
