Questions 1998 GTX Limited photos - tell me what you see wrong

So I inherited a 1998 GTX limited. It has been used infrequently in the last 3 years. It has 232hrs. I took some pictures of the inside and replaced the spark plugs and battery. Before the spark plugs I did take it for a test ride, it had some trouble maintaining running speed and would stop. I have not tested with new plugs yet. First question about what is normal. I plugged in the key and ran thru the mode to see the hours, the info center will go dead after about 30secs (not starting and battery is on charger).
How do these plugs look?



It appears that most of the grey gas lines have been replace. Is this the vent line that is still grey. What is the writing on the manifold and engine? What is that line that appears to be cut? Any thing else you visually see that needs attention?
Is that white box a filter? What are the small yellow lines, and do they need replaced? How do I access the carbs to fog them? Thanks for the help

well... you're missing a head bolt!
Yes those are just vent lines
someone rebuilt it at 192 hours maybe?
info center shuts down at 30 seconds is normal.
Yes, that's a fuel filter.

WHO uses zip ties for fuel lines?! go get some stainless steel clamps.

Thanks. Is that a standard fuel filter or aftermarket? Are the remaining grey lines the tank vent? The hose that looks cut off, is that also a vent. I can't seem to find where I can plug in a garden hose. Was water hook up standard or extra? I think you might be correct on the head replacement and manifold. The previous owner purchased it used in 2004. I know the shop so maybe I will take to them.

Headbolt looks like it snapped off, the cut hose you see on the exhaust is just covering the clamp threads, the yellow-ish lines going under the carbs are the oil lines and they look pretty bad. Spark plugs look ok but need better pics showing the inner area.

I replaced the plugs. How hard is it to fog thru the carbs? Is it difficult to replace the oil lines ? What about the grey lines? Are those for the tank vent? I guess not much to fo about the broken bolt as long as no engine links. I may just winterized (fog) and wait for spring. Winters are light here in south Texas and its stored in garage

Yea you need to get that fixed for sure. The grey lines are tank vent lines so replace them if you want. You can fog thru the spark plug holes: spray for 5 seconds or so, ground out the spark plug wires and crank over a few times and repeat once more. To replace the oil lines, remove carbs and then you can get to the lines. I would run Stabil in your gas and take a ride on the lake.

I read somewhere that I can attach the plug wires to something internal WHere? is it to these silver post on this box?

yes, ground them to the two posts on the aft edge of the box.

Not positive about '98 model, but should be a threaded water connection for garden hose on the back of the ski to the left of the jet pump. Make sure you start engine, then turn on water.......turn off water, then stop engine. Don't run for more than 30sec to a minute, its meant for flushing the engine, not for running long periods. Find yourself a free service manual download, it will answer a lot of your questions.
