I am working on a 96 XP 781 and have a question about the rave valve on the water exhaust side by the back of the jet ski. Mine is leaking and i was wondering if it can be overhauled like the ones on the engine. I don't really know what it is there for and if it can be removed or not. The previous owner JB welded the base of it and i can't tell if it threads in. I would like to repair it without having to break it off if possible. Any and all advice is welcome. Thank you.

Scott, I believe he is talking about the water control valve.

they often leak because there is a steel clamp on the rubber bellows inside. the clamp rusts apart and punctures the bellows. If that is the case you should be able to just replace the bellows and clamp. Mine just had a pinhole that I was able to seal with permatex.

Thank you for the quick responses. I will look into a kit to rebuild the valve. By the name of it i am guessing it controls how much water is allowed to leave the engine. Does it serve the same purpose as a thermostat, (to keep the engine temp at a certain operating temp) or something else. Just trying to learn a little more about my money pit. Thank you again and hope to hear back.

it controls the flow of water into the tuned pipe.
There are some good posts on the forum that explain the whole theory behind the tuned pipe and how it enhances performance.

O OK I see now. Yes the water injection has a weep hole in the bottom of the housing. When a problem occurs with the billows it allows water to seep out the hole.

You should be able to unscrewed the plastic housing right of the brass adaptor that goes into the waterbox.

I hereby decree that from hence forthe the "Water Flow Regulator Valve" shall be officially known as the "WFRV"
