Meatless day are Fridays during Lent and Ash Wed.

How come Lent is referred to by "40 days of Lent" when this year there are 46 Days Plus Easter. happens every year, Don't Sundays count?

OK, give up drinking, chocolate, sex, lottery, or whatever....but on Sundays....do it all you want. Doesn't make sense.

On topic a little bit I might get this 1997 Gtx with 10 hours on it. Looks pretty clean has like 110 hp. Any problems with the year and model of ski?

^ you better before someone else.
We can't give you any other advice than flying us to Ohio.

Go look at it and do the things we said.
If everything looks good and checks out make him an offer. Tell him since you can't water test you'll feel better at 1100-1200 and see if he takes it.

What kind of rebuild did he do? Is there paper work?

Your talking about the same ski right? your question sounds you found another one.

I'm gonna play the devils advocate here. Something doesn't add up, 10 hrs. use on a 15 year old ski??? That's like 2 or 3 days use in 15 years. Is this the number of hours that shows up on the multi-gauge? Has the MPEM been changed? This just doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

If the hours are correct, has the ski been in storage for a number of years, either lately or sometime in the past? This can actually be worse on a ski than over use.

I would suggest if you don't feel comfortable checking the ski out yourself get someone who is knowledgeable preferably a mechanic to go with you. Where in Ohio do you live? I know a couple of guys in Northern KY.

Lou

Sorry I didn't know where Cedar Point was, it's near Sandusky and I don't know any one in that area. You might want to start another thread to see if anyone knows a good mechanic in your area. What about a mechanic from the place where you bought the other ski?

Lou

I didnt end up buying that Gtx my father is thinking about it haha! How do you not know where Cedar Point is????

so are you still going to look at the 97 GSX with the yellow trailer? hmm, you need a yellow Hummer to tow that with...Lou, who has the yellow hummer now?

Yepp! going to look at it right after I go to the store and buy myself a compression gauge reader and hope I do it correctly. And worst case I will buy a box of metallic silver sharpies and go to town on that trailer!

compression test is easy, you will be fine, remember to put the spark plugs on the grounding lugs, although on the 97 gsx the grounding lugs are not actually grounded, go figure...

And that is probably the part i will mess up on. Could you find a picture of what im suppose to put them on? and take out both plugs or just one?

don't have a picture but if I am picturing it correctly in my mind, the rear e-box is directly in front of the battery and there are 2 metal tabs tht stick straight up on top of the box. those are the groundign studs. does not matter if you take out the plugs one at a time or both together. hold the throttle wide open while cranking the engine for the measurement. reset the gauge and repeat 3 times.

ok here are your grounding studs, in top pic the spark plugs are on the studs, in the bottom pic you can see the studsground studs.jpg

arg, did you download a shop manuel it is in the maintenance section. section 1 subsection 3

We didn't put the plugs on the studs it had 150 on the spot compression in each cylinder would that change of I didn't put them on the studs??

putting them on the studs will not affect the compression, just weather or not you blow up from an arc igniting stray fumes in the hull :)

Was the VTS disconnected? Did you buy it.

The vts worked fine when we got there it was disconnected In the back but it worked fine were still here trying to find a notary!

hmm.... the bolt has a lock nut.

did it fire right up and run good? did you check the gauge for how many hours are on it?

79 hours took a minute to fire up the battery was dead for a year and water shot out the back and it was out of gas haha

79 hours, perfect compression, cosmetically good. Time to find that notary :)

Ask him what oil he uses, good to stick with the same oil. Plus it confirms he is using the correct oil. If you want to go further you might pull the rear RAVE valve off and see how clean or gummed up it is, as kind of an indication of how well he maintained it. But with perfect compression I'd be a buyer.
