ok so I took my seadoos in to have the carbs rebuilt and anything else they could find wrong with them. They gave them back. work done was 700$ worth. rebuilt the carbs changed to fuel lines flushed the system. They took them out on the water and made sure everything was running great. The owner even told me the engines had the best compression he had seen on such old skis. anywho we took them out on the lake. one ran AMAZING the other died after it got on the water and would not restart. I called them up and took them back to them. long story short here is the problem (pictures) can you guys tell me how it happened and why?

In this picture there is a chip in the metal to the left of the gear in the circle part.

This is the piece that caused the chip. see how it is bent on the side.

The people who worked on them told me this is a common problem.
The people at CS Performance told me it is from error if installation.

can some one explain it to me? lol sorry I just feel like these guys might have done shotty work and are charging another 1000$ plus parts to fix this issue.

cant tell what the part is, in the second pic. Picture has a "shine" to it.

Check to make sure the brass fittings are protruding, where those holes are. I've sen where they fall out, but anyways, re-post better pic, and think you'll get more responses.

As SeaDoo said... it's hard to tell from the pictures... but if it's a bent rotary valve, and a damaged intake runner... then NO, it's not "Common" or normal. For that to happen... something has to fall into the engine. Since they had the carbs off... I would be pointing my finger at them.

Sorry about the bad pictures. I just took some fast ones cause it was hot and junk lol.

Thats exactly what it is. The rotary valve bent and caught the edge and what not. So is there something I can do to explain to this guy its their fault?

If they won't take the blame just by telling them what happened... you may have to take it to small claims court, and file with the BBB.

The rotary valve is hard stainless steel, and it won't bed on it's own. It takes an impact with something else.

Trust me... if you show them the pic of the bent valve... and they just worked on the carbs... they will know it was their fault. (Even if they won't take responsibility)

Actually, the worst part is now, the engine needs to be taken apart to find what ever bent the valve. (it's now down inside the engine)

Thanks guys. I know I was not going crazy with this. Soo I will let you guys know what happens. its a shame I have to deal with a company that will not stand by there work. :nopity:

how many bolts did you remove when pulling the airbox off? should've been 6?

Um they Had it all torn aoart before I got there and its still all torn apart.
but I see what you are getting at.

check all the bolts they would of had to take out to do the repair to see if 1 is different or newer than the rest this would indicate that they "lost" one (in the engine?) and replaced it with a new one.
