I am considering pulling the trigger on a new 180 Challenger SE, with ski tower, 255 HO engine and galvanized trailer. Price is listed at $27,120. From my research, the MSRP is #30,699 and the invoice is at $25,659 (these are w/o the galv. trailer upgrade, all the info I could find).

What do you guys think is a resonable first offer for this boat, especially in light of the news about BRP stopping production of these boats? Have any of you bought this model this year? What did you pay for it?

Thanks in advance,
Pete

I bought a 12 180 se 255hp for 25750 ,no bullshit and no hidden fees like assembly or document fees from a dealer in northeast pa if u want email me at. Bdawson69@me.com I'll b happy to give you any info I have! The dealer is rusty palmers in Honesdale pa

Thanks for the feedback! This info is very helpful. This boat is in stock, I am thinking about $25k is about right for my offer.

Well, I got it for $24,200 plus some dealer fees. Seems like a good deal overall.

Also, I made sure to ask about the wake tower holder brackets (for securing the tower when it is lowered), and they gave me a set that was lying around the shop - not sure why they weren't on the boat. But it turns out they must be for a bigger boat/tower, as they don't fit mine. They said they will try to find the right ones for me. I can't find these brackets in any of the online parts lists. Did you guys get a set of these with your boats? Is there an aftermarket source for them?

Thanks!
Pete

Congrats, it's crazy to think Brp is exiting the business and everyone on here is buying boats? Low inventory, great customer loyalty, great brand recognition.... Talk about nuts from the CEO, they could have just scaled down dramatically, concentrated on their biggest money makers, realistic pricing... There is a reason we bought these boats and not cheaper ones out there (think bayliner)..

FIRE THE CEO, regroup, resize, reinvigorate the brand.. Ingredients for success no? Plus fire the designer of the PWC's, they are ugly and too freaking expensive... Let's see how long they last even on the PWC side....

While I agree with your logic.... everyone in the "recreation" industry is hurting. (motorcycles, ATV's, PWC, boats, RV's... etc) Polaris, Honda, Arctic Cat, Wetjet.... and a few other smaller companies all got out of PWC. Unfortunately... Yamaha is pushing a low payment, and a basic boat... but who knows... in a year or two... they may stop too.

If the economy comes back... they will make boats again. It's just that the majority of their boats are in the +$30k range, and people don't have that to spend on toys right now.

Had a '99 speedster and decided time to upgrade..went for a new 2012 challenger 180se with the 255...they threw in a five year warranty and a 7k discount off msrp...happy to have another seadoo..was considering the yamaha 190, but it was hard to not stay with BRP..

Wow... Guys... that is unbelievable, dont flame me gentleman, Im not sure if I would have done the same thing, I love my speedster... but considering everything thats going on, it would be hard for me to not go for the 190..

Well anyways, theres the proof in the pudding how much we love our boats! plus the 5 year warranty must be awesome, the $7k reduction is very nice too.. I guess you did awesome, you probably will never lose on that boat..

Seadoo Johnny - yeah, I got the 5 year warranty too.

Ryann - the list on the boat is $30,899, so I got around $7k off too.
