I am considering a 2007 RXT 215 Jet Ski. A coworker of mine has one he is selling. The ski is less than a year old. About 5 month ago, the ski was involved in an incident or accident. He had two skis, the other a 2 seater. The RXT was traveling with 2 passengers up a creek and the second 2 seater ski was headed in a path to "T-Bone" the RXT. Both operators turned hard to avoid, but they hit on the sides, and the RXT must have riden over the other. The RXT appears to have sustained no damage, the other ski had the forward fairing demolished. The impact was sufficient enough to break the leg of the 2 seater passenger and throw all passengers in the water.

I am reassured that he RXT has no damage other than a scuff on the rub rail.

The RXT is a 2007 and has the 3 year warranty and gold service package with over 2 years remaining on both. The ski has 25 hours. The ski does not come with a trailer.

He is asking $9000. Is this a decent deal? I have seen several for sale, but most are for more than $10k. I assume that is because people owe that much on the loans. This is a cash sale for me.

The other question would be how to determine any damage that may be hidden from view. I am currently not able to view the ski in person at this time. Is it possible to have a Sea Doo dealership examine the vessel and how much might I expect to pay for that?

Any advice is appreciated.

Possibly relevant information...?

Mine was involved in a similar "incident" several years ago, only not so severe. They turned and hit going sorta in the same direction.

There is no visible damage, but it leaks like crazy SOMEWHERE!!! I don't know where it is leaking from, but is is a pretty quick leak, like 3-5 gallons per hour. More if I am in the waves. I think the two sandwiched parts of the hull are cracked apart under the rubber bumper strip.

I put in an aftermarket bilge pump and have to use it every 20-30 minutes to keep the boat from getting too heavy.

I really like my boat and how it performs, so I don't worry about it, especially for the price.

But for $9000, you might want to have it looked at closely by a professional to be sure there is no hidden damage.
