Pump stuck on driveshaft

Our '95 GTX lost the black layer on the wear ring this weekend. Dry rotted I guess. So I begin disassembly...removed the cables and nozzle assembly. Disconnected the two bailer tubes and water inlet hose thru the hull fittings. Cut the black silicon at the hull and the pump is loose and ready to come out, but it only comes out like a 1/4" and that's it. I think it's stuck on the driveshaft.

Any tricks to getting pump disconnected from the driveshaft? What aout the rubber cone shaped bushing...should it come off with the pump?

It should just pull off of the drive shaft. if you have the main water feed off... it should pull out.

If this is a saltwater ski... and all the grease washed out of the impeller... then the driveshaft could have rusted to the impeller. You may want to pull the little rubber ring up from the interface of the impeller and drive shaft and shoot some penetrating oil into it.
