I have a 1996 challenger, installed new wear ring, impellar seams to be alright. Checked the clearence on the impellar & its a sloppy .040, checked a buddys 2006 challenger clearence a tight .010. I thought I read somewere on a 1996 challenger its suppose to be 040. When I give boat throddle to plain off it slips real bad , I have to back off the throddle, feather it , to make it plain off.

0.040" is the top of the clearance... that's not it's spec.

Did you install a factory ring, or an aftermarket ring? The aftermarket rings don't always fit the way they should.

If it's a factory ring... your impeller may be warn out.

Regardless... if you have cavitation issues... tighten up that gap... and change your carbon seal too.

Thank you very much for your responce! I bought the wear ring from a Seadoo Dealer & alot of other parts at the same time so I assume its a factory wear ring, the impellar number stamped is 271000620, the last 3 numbers are stamped over , do you know if theres another impellar I can cross this over to. Also as far as I can tell on this model(1996) it does not have a carbon ring, just bearings with grease fittings.
