1996 GTX Pump Maintenance?

First, thanks to everyone here for your help and putting up with newbie's like myself.

I've removed the pump off one of our '96 GTX's and have a few questions?
Notes:
- Removed cone and oil seemed decent; smell was not bad and didn't seem too watery.
- Pump was slightly difficult to separate from hull / plate; sealed with clear silicone.
- Impeller has ~ 1/16" gap from the wear ring (plan on installing a new white teflon wear ring).

Questions:
1: Synthetic 75w-90 such as Mobile 1 OK for the pump oil?
2: Is the anti-rattle kit recommended? Only for noise prevention or does it prolong bearing life? If noise only, is the noise noticeable while under way? Only at idle?
3: Pump only had clear silicone previously. Should I use a neoprene seal or silicone? If yes on seal do I also use silicone?
4: Anti-Seize in the shaft splines?
5: How do I tell if the bearings / seals where the shaft penetrates the hull is good and not subject to flooding the hull?

Everything seems relatively tight but I'm new to this so what do I know???
Obviously looking to get on the lake soon but want to ensure I stay 'ON' the lake and not under it...

1) Yes synthetic 75w-90. Any brand will due.
2) Anti rattle kit is a waste of money in my opinion.
3) Neoprene seal is the best way to do it
4) Just use grease in the pump splines
5) You should have a carbon seal setup. Just make sure the carbon seal and the stainless steel collar are fairly snug up against each other and there is no water leaking in when you dunk it in the water. If the seal is loose, you can tighten it up by scooting the accordian boot up closer to the engine ensuring a tighter seal

EDIT: From the looks of things your carbon seal looks good. It also looks like you have wayyy to much gap on your wear ring. I think the maximum clearence is .04".

Ummmm....

Yep... what he said.

Just for more info:

5) there isn't a bearing in it. They only used the bearing/seal pack on the 95 and older. The carbon seal will leak a little water, by design, to keep itself cool.
