What are you guys using as a positive pressure test pump? I want to check my fuel system and when I do my jet pump oil I know I will need to do a test. I have a Mitey Vac that pulls vacuum and I use it quite often. I'd rather not build my own system but I do have an air compressor at home. I can regulate the pressure way down but a small pump would be handy.

Help/input is always appreciated.

Happy Independence Day !!!

I use a brass tee with a gauge on one side a barb on the other for a piece of hose and a schrader valve on the third. Then I use a bike suspension pump to pressurize it.

I guess you found a barbed fitting with a pipe thread that goes into the cone on the other end? Where would I start looking?

All parts are available at the hardware store.
Here’s a picture

I see the repair manual shows the barb/cone hole fitting and gives it a part number 295 000 086. Would a US hardware store have an equivalent?

Just get two of the 1/4” NPT by barb fittings, one for the tester and one for the cone.

I made my own as well. I just couldn't pay what they were asking for the part. I ordered the parts from Amazon. Gauge, Tee, Needle Valve, and barb fitting. Not sure how you are gonna apply the air pressure. I use my compressor but set the regulator to the max pop-off setting just in case my hand slips :)

You have to use a scrader valve no matter what. I use a suspension air pump because it’s sealed and you can bring the pressure up slowly and accurately.

I use the genuine mikuni pop off tester. It's slick as sh!t and works like butter. Worth every penny of the $54 I paid for it. I had the home brew, never looking back now.

Where the picture of that shiznet bro ??? :) I want to oogle it. :D

Mikidymac, I was surprised that the 1/4 npt fitting fits this cone! Wow. Why is that? So I hooked up my Mikuni pump but all the fittings leaked air. Where do you find hose clamps for a 1/4 diameter? I did my best and it still leaked slightly but it held most of the pressure for the 10 minutes. I'm going forward with assembly. The repair manual calls for yet another special item for sealing the plug. What is a generic substitute?

A friend was scouring a military surplus website and found a gas mask test kit. Ha. Well low and behold it had a metal-mityvac pump that does vacuum and pressure in the kit. It obviously had some worthless adaptors in it but was in a very nice plastic case. It was $11 for the kit and thats what i use. Get some 1/4 fuel line and couple adaptors and you have a very nice kit to test carbs, pumps and pressure test engines for very cheap.
