I just received my new 787 engine from a well known builder and I am wondering if this has ever happened to any of you.
I shipped the core with the mag flywheel still on the crank shaft so they could put it on the new motor .
I did not send the pto, but when i got it back it had one on it.
While inspecting the motor it looked to me like the crankshaft was not a new one.
now I know what the end of a new crankshaft looks like. I have attached a pic of one.
this crank has what looks like corrosion on it. for my own reasons I will not attach a pic of the one that was sold to me.
If you are a seadoo engine builder and you put the same crank in a motor that I paid you $1,000 for
Well Shame on you,

Sorry but for $1000 it is unlikely that you got a new crank. Most shops rebuild them, unless you pay extra for a new crank. Rebuild cranks are perfectly fine, providing they are done properly with good quality parts.

i'm in agreement with the two posters above, the bearings rods and seals are more important than a few spots on the outside. don't be shy about the builder.

Thanks That sounds about rite. the one I got with the new crank was over $1,500
I thought they got a kit with all new part put it together and welded it.Thanks for the info.

We all know who the builder is, Come on.

I feel the same way as you guys, You don't have a new crank Dan, You have a used one and in all actuality you have a used motor too! Its just rebuilt.

I assume they hot tank all cranks and micro polish the journals. I assume they turn the cranks that need to be and use appropriate bearings to compensate. I would hope they check balance of the entire rotating assembly when the motor is back together. But who knows what they actually do?

maybe im lost but....who is the builder???LOL you all seem to know and i cant figure it out

Most of the rebuild shops resuse the crank, but with all new bearings / rods / seals. that's fine with me since it's still under their warranty as well..

also, set the date on your camera :)

true true.....it dosent mean you get a brand new crank or even a reman one just becasue you ask for a rebuild....a rebuild with a new crank would be more than 1000
