I got the impeller off and the ring out. There was a bunch of corrosion under the ring so I used a wire brush on a drill to get it off. While cutting the ring out I cut into the housing a bit in several places and made a few groves. Is there a way to fill those? Would marinetex work?Is it necessary? Also, is there a way to coat the pump so it will not corrode again? Would it work to powder coat the housing? How do I get the plastic nipples that go through the hull out of the pump?

Got some more of the corrosion out of the pump and it turns out that even the bronze stator is deformed on two sides by the corosion as well. Now this ski is not used to race or go fast but since tbe bearings are in the center of the stator does it sound like I have to replace the whole pump or will it work the way it is?

I would powder coat it. I powered coated some external pump parts that were rusting/corroding and have had no more issues. Be careful sand blasting.
