Has anybody tried using the polarizing film sheets they sell on ebay for smart phones to repair the info gauge display?

Has anybody tried using the polarizing film sheets they sell on ebay for smart phones to repair the info gauge display?

I know it's cheaper that way, but I just went with a pre cut kit off ebay to be done with it. The kit sellers are doing exactly that, sourcing and cutting up sheets. More power to them, I'm happy, I fixed my sun cooked info gauge for less than $25.

Thanks for your response GG, but I am looking for a cheaper alternative, which is why I asked if anyone has tried those smart phone films. Has anybody had any luck with those? OSD has those kits you mention for 16 bucks plus shipping, which turns out to be about $21

I understand, it may be a gamble to find out, there's cheap polarizing sheets on ebay, but I haven't heard of anybody trying something other than the kit. Nobody on the FB forum either. The cost difference is minimal IMO when you weigh the 'known' factor.

But share with the group if you discover a cheaper alternative.
