We are getting ready to go out on our first day out with our new to us 2006 Utopia 205.

The previous owner had the wear rings replaced and the supposed sea-do master mechanic half assed the reverse gate install.

i stripped it all down and now the shifter is way smoother. The gate also locks properly when in the full up position.

The only remaining problem is that the throttle cable is way too long so I can’t fully raise the gate at cruise.

I am trying to adjust the cable to shorten by as much as 1/2 inch but am not sure how. I have the shop manual and it says to adjust at the control box but when I removed it, there doesn’t seem to be that much more to shorten it.

I couldn’t figure out how to do it at the back end.

can anyone give me some insight on how to adjust the shifter and also tell me at what position should the reverse gate be fully up.

Thank you!
