Please help with pop off pressure

I need some help with pop off pressure. I made a tester but really dont have a full understanding of the process.
From my understanding, the needles must be exposed so I can apply WD-40 for a wet test. For my 97 XP the pressure should be 28-48 but both carbs within 2psi of each other.
I will hook the tester to my air compressor and to the fuel inlet nipple on one carb at a time. I use my finger to block the engine pulse and the fuel outlet nipple.

After slowly applying pressure I should see no air bubbles near the needle, but rather a loud pop after a build up of pressure.


Is this all correct?

1) It won't be a loud pop... but it should be a clean pop. (not a slow release) Re-oil after each attempt.

2) You don't have to cover the pulse line since air won't come out of it.

3) Since you said you would cover the return... I am assuming that you are separating the carbs, and testing them individually.

EDIT: Yes I was testing them seperately. Both pop at about 32-34psi which seems perfect. I assume all thats left to check to make sure the carbs are oporating properly is to test the fuel pump. Anyone give me a brief rundown on how to do this?

There isn't a good way to test the internal fuel pump. Just make sure everything is clean, and all the gaskets are good.

One thing I did notice while working on the ski was the oil pump line from the oil take was capped off, but the line to the engine was not capped off. Think this would cause an air leak?
