Please help 1990 waverunner lx

I just got it running. I have the choke on high and it starts right up and i push the choke halfway down and its runs perfect. I put the choke all the way down and it idles high and feels like top speed. Any suggestions before i give up. When i put the choke down it revs up.

it's impossible to evaluate anything on the trailer. You have to put it in the water, and then adjust the idle. My Si will idle around 3000 out of the water, but every once in a while (when cold) it will run at 5000 ~ 6000 RPM out of the water. Once there is a load on it (being in the water) ... it idles fine.

But... if the ski is new to you... the carbs may need rebuilt.


If you need a hand with it... I'm going to be out at Bush Recreation area (loyallhanna lake) on Saturday. Let me know, and I'll bring some tools.

I work the weekend. Wish I could come up. I called a dealer and I have a question. I push full throttle and will only go 20mph someone said the wear ring is bad and the impeller? or the carbs?

does the jet intake systems consist of the wear ring and impeller

Is it reving to full power, or is it bogging?

If it's reving... then either the clearance in the pump is too high, the impeller is damaged, or the driveshaft seal needs rebuilt.


On the early Yamaha pumps... I don't think they have a ring. I think you have to replace the entire mid body.
