Piston damage

Hi everybody, finally i've open my engine to look at the damage. At my surprise there was less then expect. Can somebody tell me what they think ( my opinion it's the ring broke due to expand due to rust ) I will order top end kit from Winner Circle Canada 225$
but wonder if i will need sleeve too can anybody give me there advice on should i change or not the sleeve according to the picture also let me know if you think something else then rust an have cause ring failure will be really appreciate.

Don't order a kit until you know about the sleeves yet. Looks pretty close to what happened to mine!

with that kind of damage to the side of the piston you will more than likely need a sleeve . I can almost gurantree you that the ring wedged down in between the cylinder and the piston but just take it to a machine shop to have it tested and theyll tell you

i will also get the sleeve for the one where ring broke and i hope the bottom was not hurt . I will remove the jug and check other sleeve alson while i have it tear down.

Honestly, you should just get a new top end with sleeves for both cylinders.These things don`t last that long and it doesn`t cost much more to just do both. You need to make sure that thing didn`t go lean.. You should realy tear the bottom end down to inspect the bearings. I had a cylinder look like that before and it was due to a cage breaking apart on a pto side bearing. Took 2 top ends to figure it out.

One of my friend who s mechanic for ski doo and jet boat will have a look at it as soon i have time to bring it in and we ll see from there if we dammage something else .
