Basically trying to figure out if I got hosed or not.

What are they worth, fair price? Is the throttle a straight or angled pull? I honestly don't know the difference and don't have the parts in hand yet.

Thanks,

Chris

Looks like up to a couple hundred bucks worth. I think the trigger is a straight pull. It's all the good stuff, you did fine.

I was going to say $110, but I'm not into those parts these days so don't go by what I say

Thanks for the replies so far. Hopefully the throttle comes with the proper adapter for the seadoo cable. What the heck is that little spring clip for?

Also, where should I be applying sealant with the trim tabs.

As for price, I paid somewhere between Matt's and Spim's prices shipped. (Closer to Spim). So I think I did alright.

The angled you can only really tell when you get it on some bars. It drops the lever at an angle so it can pull the cable a little farther. You can tell by where it hits the grip.

ps, I love that finger throttle, I hated the thumb throttle with a passion.

Yes, these 3 parts should address the two things I really disliked about the ski. Bouncing up and down and the thumb throttle.

They should be here Friday, just in time for me to leave town for the weekend and visit the in laws. Yay...

You do have the correct adapter for that throttle. The little clip is a retainer to hold the cable in place.

I seal those tabs around the circles and the screws themselves. You might silicone it smooth where they meet the ride plate and the little dip between the tab and hull(toward the front). I would not put too much sealant under them because you want it smooth to keep from creating drag.

Well parts came in today and I am pleased.

Can this be identified as a straight or angle pull? (It feels good on the stand lol, I guess that is what really matters)

Tabs installed too. Pretty sure they are 3 degree.

Can anyone with the 3 degree tabs post a pic of the angle they make with the hull? I just want to confirm my gap is correct.

Thanks to all who responded!

Krispy, did that throttle lever give you enough pull to open the carbs all the way? Trying to decide on an angled vs straight pull. Thanks

ya,you might want to pull the throttle to wide open, and then check the carbs to see if they open fully.you gonna LOVE those trim tabs!!

Also interested in this Krispy^

Sorry, I forgot to reply to the other request.

I couldn't get it adjusted such that I got full pull with the ODI grips.

I am currently running Walmart bmx bike grips to get WOT.

I am interested in a better solutionZ

The tabs are 0 degree. They are cast originally and then ground to 3 degree. I can see yours have not been ground. GroupK will cut the standard to 3 degree for you if you send them in.

Thanks Matt , I would like to try and trim these myself.

Do you have a picture showing the ground areas?

The 3 degrees is a tilt "down" or a tilt "up" at the two of the craft? Another way to say it, does the trailing edge dip into the water (pushing the nose down) or does the trailing edge lift out of the water (trimming the nose up)?

It would be hard to do yourself but worth a try I guess. I think you would need a jig to really know what is what and to keep the grind uniform. If more then 3 degree then it will begin to porpoise which defeats the purpose of having them. If less then 3 degree then you may be loosing a little mph up top.

The rear most part of the tabs is slightly upward. I sold all the ones I had in hand but you can tell where they were ground in to those long rectangle loops in the casting on the tabs. The circles where the bolts go through showed a little grinding also.

This is going to require a machine shop to do. I would also call Group K. I can tell you right now, if they charge $40 to $50 for the service it's worth every penny dollar-wise. By the time you set up a mill, indicate the tab, set the 3 degrees, the machine shop is already over $100 in labor before they even take a cut. I would not try this at home, without a mill. First I would break out the GPS and test the ski stock, then R&D tabs, then if it scrubs speed have them cut and re-gps. I think you need to establish a baseline, but that's me.

Take a look at the date of this thread, I purchased these before last season got in swing. It was brought back from the dead, but some new information has been added and it is helpful, in my opinion.

I have run these about 25 hours and are very pleased. My baseline was 58.7 with these tabs, r&d nozzles, worx grate and a Solas X0. When I added sponsons I lost about 1.5 mph, but gained handling and reduced porpoising. I would like to see if I can claw back some of the speed I scrubbed with the sponsons.

I am considering using some of the time I have before the season kicks off here to deck a bit off with a fly cutter on the mill. I have access to a professional grade rapid prototype machine at work that might make a nice 3 degree jig to hold these on a flat table with out changing the mill head zero.

Machine time is free for me, just have to call in a favor with a buddy and drive to his shop.

Yes, I know you have access to a shop. I was going to quote Adam and Rosie in my post but figured everyone would catch my drift. My bad. I was just trying to get other guys to not break out a file and "cut" the 3 degrees in their garage and ruin their tabs.

Damn, id be happy with 59 mph!
Especially with such limited mods, motor must be running spot on !:)

Not quite 59, but close.

Correction, 58.6.

Glass smooth water, just as the sun was going down. I have also trued the hull and obsessively aligned the engine and pump.

My engine has ~230 hours on it and still the original Pistons and bore size, and not a single mod to the engine.
