What parts does one sell off these old two strokes? I'm scrapping some skis but sure don't want to have a parts house.. Too much junk around now. I'm considering throwing the locked up engines away.. Help/input is appreciated. I'm actually paying a guy to scrap the skis and I told him he could have the parts I don't want and he could sell them. The more my parts pile increases the less parts I want off the skis. LOL

You know with the way you collect skis you’re going to need those parts as soon as you throw them away!

Honestly, the hardest parts for me to find lately have been rear exhaust hoses that are in decent shape. I’d make sure you keep a set of steering/throttle/choke cables for each of the hull types you’re going to keep an example of too. They’re still pretty easy to find, but would be nice to have around.

Pull everything off and get some storage bins. The only thing I would junk is the actual hull and handlebars, mabe fuel tanks.
Keep the entire drivelines, electrical, cables, switches always nice to have a big bag of OEM nuts & bolts.

I will second this, especially the hardware. Until you have your 'keeper' skis on the water and are done flipping skis, I wouldn't get rid of much. I've been tinkering with these for almost 10 years now and can't begin to tell you how many things I've sold that I've had to buy back later (which is why I stopped selling stuff). I would also keep any hull ID tags.... just in case.

Good call on the tags.
Although I want to stress that it is illegal to tamper with VIN tags and/or swap them to different vehicles, but we already know that. ;)

So how about the huge exhaust systems on the 951s. Are they worth anything. I'm about to sell them for scrap.

The ones with the newer o-ring groove are the ones that are wanted. The older flat surface ones were more prone to leak.

The ones I don't need are going to the scrap yard. I don't have time to play with that stuff. Clean yard. Neat and tidy.

In high demand, all MPEM's, easy $200 a pop, seats are about $75 to $150. People break and damage sponsons all the time, $15 to $30 each. Pumps, $100 to $150. SS impellers $50. Driveshafts $50. Gauges $30 to $150. Carbs $20 to $50 each. Cases $50 to $100. Fuel Senders $55, Speed O sensors $60, Ride plates, Grates, Fuel Injectors, RAVES, Fuel Pumps, RV shafts/gear., VTS, exhaust pieces, waterboxes. There's a ton of stuff people could use at any point, I'd price it low on ebay and move some of it. You may be surprised. You could combine some stuff to make a good ski.

I wouldn't trash it, just store it and pull some out every now and then and try to sell it. On the FB forum people are looking for stuff all the time. I sold the old 96' GSX sponsons last week, which paid for my swap to the 98 XP sponsons I purchased a while back. Everything moves on there, one guy just sold everything from a 98' GSXL, he had a car full of boxes going to the post office within a few days.

I know it can be an addiction, but I wouldn't buy anymore skis...only way to stop the madness.

Regarding the pricing on these parts... seems like the smaller the part the more they want for them. It's cheaper to buy the assembly in some cases. The level of greed concerning the pricing is absolutely appalling to me. It would make me smile to run some of these resellers out of business but I'm just too lazy. LOL Caveat Emptor.
