Sucked some stones into impeller and they got lodged in. Was able to get them out, but when RPM's increase I get a vibration and won't go pass 4 mph. Assuming the impeller in bent? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Good assumption. You need a new impeller or have that one refurbished. Probably a blade got bent. Try to keep in at least 3 feet deep water, and don't accellerate till you're in deeper water... these beasts suck stuff up from the bottom real easy.

Friend of mine did exactly the same thing on mine the other day. Stripped it down today and found

Costly mistake for lending someone your ski for a ride. The certainly do suck big time so i would suggest you have a good look at it or better yet, take it in for inspection by the mechanics.

I'm tearing it down today. Came in for a refresher. Has anyone ever installed a screen over the intake to stop stones/debris??? Just wondering.

You don't wanna do that, trust me. The flow rate of the water would rip it out and suck it up into the pump. :-(

yes, the screen would cause resistance and slow the water.
the intake grate is the screen, but it is a balance between resistance and blocking damaging items.
its like putting one of those metal rings around your prop when you run in the river... you go slower, but you are less likely to damage the prop.
you would also need a REALLY, REALLY (REALLY) stong 'screen' to test this.... my guess is it would reduce performance to almost the point of 'why bother'
but if u give it a try, take photos, record results "stock" "no intake grate" "my intake grate", top speed, acceleration, feel, etc.

Yea, agreed. I guess their engineers would design one if practical or maybe not??
I've noticed a couple of the fins in the housing got chipped from the stones after passing thru the impeller. Will this be much of a concern if I just replace the impeller and wear ring?

I JUST replaced the impeller and wear ring on a neighbors '08 GTI last week. It also had some (big) chips in the fins of that plastic stator..... and I HOPED that it wouldn't affect the performance.
Put it all back together and it ran like a "Raped Ape!!!" Good, strong acceleration and reached top speed like it was brand new!!!
So, no worries... it'll be fine!!!!

Thanks. I'm going to order mine from SBT. I've labored over what to do long enough....time to get it done.
I have a 2009 Wake 155. Last Sunday we took it out and we got into some shallow water. Unfortunately, we sucked stones into the impeller. It ran slower than normal right after and made high-pitched whines and strong vibrations. Once home, we took off the intake grate and cleaned and inspected for damage. It ran okay on the trailer, but in the water, around 3500 rpms there is a very slight vibration and what sounds like a supercharger whine. There is also a slight vibration at idle speed. At 5000 rpms it hits about 28-30. Could it be caused by a bent impeller? It did not look bent, but I was unable to get a perfect look at it.

Just took my pump out, small dings all around and had a stone wedged between two fins that I couldn't see until I had it out. A pretty nice groove was worn into the wear ring. From what I've learned on here so far, it doesn't take to much going thru the impeller to mess things up.
