Oops - Oh you meant all of the lines?

Sooo, we finally got the new Challenger 180 SE out on the water today, pushed off the dock - now when Dad asks "are all the lines in" and hears "YES, let's go!", you would think it would be safe to assume that meant all of them, including the one on the front cleat as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, after we limped to the beach and got that pulled out of the intake, I took off again, but it just didn't feel right after 5,000 rpm and it felt as if the transmission was slipping.

Boat moves along fine at slow speeds, forward and reverse but when you accelerate it just revs and dies out.

What damage did I do, and is it possible that the two are not related?

(After a very quiet ride home from the lake with the kids, I pulled out the motorcycle and went for a nice long ride)

Look underneath and make sure nothing is stuck in the intake/impeller. Could be an easy fix. Could be the wear ring is not shot or worse case scenario, impeller is tore up.

Don't sweat it. This has happened to most of us. It isn't a matter of if..more of a matter of when. Best scenario..repair to the impeller is needed. Worst case, wear ring and a new impeller. You should be good. New boat...probably just this.

Well it would appear that all is more than fine, it was obvious that the last 6" of rope that fell out when we pulled it out was causing the cavitation.

They weren't kidding when they said 50mph plus!!! - I called the guy that sold me the boat and bitched because he said 45 mph - lol.

Speedo was saying 87 kmh on choppy water with 2 - 17 year olds up front, me and 13 year old in the buckets and wife in back and it was still climbing, had to back off or I was going to lose somebody up front.

Time to break out the GPS, as this sounds too good to be true.

Tad different than my old Searay with 2 x 6 cylinder engines and a top speed of 35 mph (on glass, with the planets aligned and 22 gph)
