Just bought a 97 XP with a 787 earlier this year and last week had a problem where it wouldn't crank over, just "clunk" repeatedly and every once in a while actually crank the engine for a second or two (while spitting water out the back). Replaced the starter and the battery and then discovered I had a water flooded engine. Took the plugs out and it cranks over fine and sprayed water out of the spark plug holes. I read in the manual that part of the procedure is to drain and refill the counterbalance reservoir with 1 oz 30 weight oil. I have looked and looked for the drain and fill caps, but can't find them anywhere (not really sure what I'm looking for either though). When I bought it the guy said he had rebuilt the engine, and I'm thinking that perhaps somewhere down the line the owner put a pre-97 787 in it and thus it doesn't have the drain and fill plugs for the counterbalance reservoir. What will happen if I don't do this step of the process?
