When I switched to Amsoil it was because of the reports of it keeping the exhaust valves cleaner than other oils. Through my observation it performed well but not better than BRP Synth Blend. XPS Synthetic, coincidentally, has been one of the worst in my observation. It leaves a gummy build up on the valves, but this doesn't mean it's a bad oil, I'll run BRP oil any day of the week. Amsoil Interceptor is a good oil, if you can get it easily, run it. To me it's al about availability and cost with these two. When snowmobiling, almost every fuel stop has the Big 4's oils (Yam, Pol, Ski, AC) so getting BRP oil is a breeze. I will be trying out Mystik Full Synth this winter so next spring I'll have something to report on. I hear and read a lot of good stuff about Mystik. Levi Levalle's crew uses all their lubes and swears by them. They claim to have improved holeshots from the use of Mystik lubes. Take that for what it's worth. But there are reports available similar to the Amsoil report for Mystic and it tests out very well. Plus, I've read a lot on DooTalk.com about positive real world reviews of guys using Mystik which carries some weight with me. Gonna try it. If it works well, it's almost half the price of BRP and Amsoil and I can go down to Farm and Fleet and get it any time.

Anyone else using Mystik full synthetic 2 stroke oil?
 
You know a two stroke weed eater will run on WD40? I pulled one from a neighbors trash with a full spool of line. Thought just needs fresh premix. No go! Thought, clean out the barrel and choke plate with WD40. Then sprayed it into the fuel line pulling the start handle. It started! As long as I sprayed it in the gas line and kept the throttle open it ran! Put gas line back in the gas tank it ran. I used it all summer till the drive shaft failed!
 
Hey that's a neat trick! I'm surprised that it would fire on WD-40 didn't realize it was that volatile. But makes sense that it didn't seize, WD-40 is a great lube and solvent.

To Sabrtoothsqrl or however you spell it, you should ride one of those sleds. I've ridden a lot of mochines including a SeaDoo RXP 260HP and nothing gives you the thrill of acceleration and handling like a sled. The CVT's in them transfer power seamlessly and the power to weight is off the chart. You're talking 450 - 500 lbs fully fueled with 120 to 160 HP on tap. If you can get the track to hook up the launch is brutal. Pure adrenaline rush. I gotta say tho 70MPH on water is more scary than 110MPH on a frozen lake.

Oh well we're off topic now.

Anyways the WD-40 trick sounds cool but I don't think I'll be trying it in any of my ROTAX's, not that that what's you meant.
 
Well like I said I have been using mystic oil all summer without issue. Great starts. Runs out great. And is half the cost. As long as I don't have any performance issues I'll continue to use it. Remember keep clean filters Change them every season

WD-40 uses propane as the propellent... so yea... it will run an engine or act as a blow torch if you want to risk blowing your fingers off...

So we need to find a wrecked sled, steal the engine, and drop it in a 2002 XP.

I wonder if we can make a CVT impeller drive...
 
Yeah I used to use WD40 as fuel for my spud gun. Worked great. Nice flames! I know an engine would run on that but I was thinking the same thing, they quit using propane about 10yrs ago.

Sqrl: I like your thinking but it would be an attempt in futility. Cooling on a sled motor is way different than a ski motor. The ROTAX's in the Sea Doo's were always somewhat detuned compared to the equivalent size sled motor. For instance a ROTAX 583 in a sled made right around 100HP. It's a rotary valve twin cylinder almost a dead ringer for a Sea Doo 580 which only made 65HP in a ski. Ski motors run at WOT or near WOT almost 100% and the shock load of the impeller in and out of thrust is very hard on a motor. That's why Sea Doo's got such a good rep back in the 90's compared with all the others, their motors could take the abuse with ease. Look at the 720, it only made 85hp but would last forever. In a sled a 720 would be expected to produce about 140HP. A typical 600cc sled these days is 120HP.
 
True, Marine engines are often tuned for water... where reliability trumps all else.

I used White Rain hair spray in my spud gun :) And a grill ignition.
