Oil line bleeding help needed

I just replace the fuel lines and in the process I had to reseat the oil tank "dip stick" It came out of the tank a little bit. I noticed that there is oil up to about 6 inches from the tank, the rest is "air" I assume. I read in the manual to open the main line bleeder screw. If do that, will the air come out and the line *refills* with oil?
If so, how does it suction the oil from the tank to fill the line w/o the engine running

Which book are you reading? Whatever, gravity will rule the day! The weight of the oil will push the air out the bleeder. There is a one-way valve on the tank top that lets air in so as the oil level drops, there is no vacuumn. Use your pop-off tester to make sure that valve operates at 3-5 lbs psi.

I use the Clymer SeaDoo manual 1988-1996 covers all models for those yrs.

OK, If i open the bleed screw, the oil will drain??

the air space is at the top of the oil line about 6 inches from the oil tank. That's why I asked if the line will back up with oil.

What if I put some oil in to fill up the line, will that work?

I don't have a pop-off tester. What is it used for besides this test?

Are you talking about the line coming into the top of the tank? If so, the air near the tank is normal in that line.

YES, the line from the top of the oil tank to under the motor......AHHHH i just looked again. That is the return hose, isn't it?....DUH...must have had a brain fart or a senior moment....OK question solved...thanks.

Also, I don't know when my in-line oil filter was replaced. Are in-line gas and oil filters interchangeable or are they different?

The oil and gas filters are not interchangeable, in fact if you have an inline gas filter its aftermarket. You can replace the gas filter with an off the counter filter from an auto parts store, I'm using Hastings GF-95.

The oil filter you will need to get from a dealer or order one.

if you don't know when your oil filter was replaced, then replace it. You don't want to risk a plugged filter.
also be very gentle with that bleed screw. couple years ago I hand tightened mine and put a quarter turn on it with a wrench and the head snapped off.

Can I get an in-line oil filter from an auto part store?

For in-line gas is one brand better than others. I don't have one yet but planning on it Friday.
