Hi...
It’s me again.. same problem on a 1991 SP Seadoo with a 587
I am stuck with the oil problem can anybody suggest something before I take the engine out!!!

I am finding oil (new oil) from day to day but could not find the source leak. This is for sure coming from the engine as I am finding the oil on the mount looking at the ski from the back on the right side a little bit further than the flywheel but on the engine mount.
I have checked with a mirror but found nothing pipes and hoses are fine RV cover is tight what else !!!

If need be I will take a photo and upload this later on

If you know a trick or something that might help me find the leak please let me know I also pressurized the oil tank but nothing my next thing would be block off the 2 pipes feeding the RV from the middle and see if the be empty..

Do you think it’s the oil seals in the RV but if these failed would oil be going in to the engine and not out

Thanks for your help
Michael

It's probably leaking from the oil tank. The fittings on the bottom are held im place with a rubber grommet. When they get old... they leak.

Hi.. Tony

I did check if they are leaking but not from the grommets if it was from them then I would find oil in the hull and not on the mount... remember that the mounting is 1 or 2 cm elevated from the hull so oil wont manage to ride on top of it...

any other suggestion?

Hi...

I found the Leak

I blocked all the oil pipes going to the engine just left the RV oil return one (top one) and still leaking.... this time I know from where the leak is coming, out from the RV (Carb pump) plate so now I know that the oil seal needs replacing am I right?
What I am suspecting is that oil is leaking from the case to the RV bay and then finding its way out?

Also to remove the RV shaft and replace the seals can this be done with the engine still in one peice?? I mean just pull it out from the carb side

Do you suggest I can use it for this summer and the remove the engine in winter? The ski starts with just a click so no oil is going in the pistons.

Thanks

Michael

That doesn't sound right. If the RV seals were leaking... the oil would wind up draining into the engine.

If you are getting oil from around the oil pump... I would think that either it's leaking from the fittings, or the bleed screw is loose. (or the seal behind it is loose)

Hi.. Dr Honda

Thanks for your help

I was thinking that the side seal went and oil is in the RV disk between the case and the carb flange the Pump and all other things are nice without oil here is whereI am finding the dripping oil..

View attachment seadoooil.bmp

Correct me if I am worng.. if the side seals are ok of the RV and the from seal (the one exactly behing the rotating plate whent would it be oil leaking from the case to the rv bay and out?

Thanks again

Michael
