Oil in my 04 4tec 155 hp

Hi my first post here. Lots of great info for a new owner here. To my problem. I need to top up the oil in my doo and can't get the brp oil in the town I'm in. Is it ok to top up with another synthetic blend 10w40 marine grade oil? I know that the brp oil or a oil change would be best but I'm in a bind and want to use the machine tomorrow. Any opinions would be appreciated.

In the 155hp N/A engine you can use any good quality 10w-40 oil, even synthetic.

The type of oil used is really only an issue with the supercharged motors because of the slip washers on the supercharger.

That's what I hoped. So there shouldn't be a problem mixing 2 brands of oil in the engine? Both synthetic blends. Like I said I just need a top up and don't want to do a full oil change.

I recommend looking at the container and ensuring it is JASO certified for wet clutches and you are good to go.

Yep you should be fine, go ahead and top it off. Just make sure not to overfill, proper oil level for these engines in right smack in the middle of the bends on the dip stick. Too much oil will cause performance issues and possibly trigger an oil pressure alarm. If you ever do happen to overfill just suck some out with your oil changer pump.

Bca8ball - no need to worry about friction modifiers in the oil since his engine does not have any wet clutches since it is NOT supercharged. Only becomes and issue if you have the SC engines...
