Hi new here and was wandering what oil to use on a 1997 gtx seadoo just bought it and have not even looked at the oil level. Spur of the moment buy

API-TC rated full synthetic only.

You need to find out what is in there because you can't mix different brands.

What color is the old oil?

you should be able to open the oil cap and look at the dipstick to see if there is any residual oil on it to see what color it is--it's not always easy to see from the outside of the tank. If the tank is actually bone dry, then after you add the proper oil, you will need to bleed the system to make sure engine is not running without any oil. Or...it's possible that whoever owned it before you has converted it to a premix...which means you MUST mix gas and oil together, and the tank doesn't really have oil in it.

There is no dipstick on a 1997 GTX.
Open the hood and remove the bucket to let light in then look at the tank from the engine side under the seat. Shake the ski to see the oil level.

i mean I guess you could make your own little dipstick out of a straw, i just shake the trailer till I see some oil move around.
