Hey guys, I need to remove what is left of the rather large SEA.DOO decal that is located below the helm of my 96 XP and I don't have a heat gun. Any suggestions?

honestly the heat gun is probaly your best bet. Harbor freight sells them for a very good price. I want to there say under $15

Ignore what everybody said and listen to me on this... Get a Heat Gun at Harbor Freight. It will come in handy for other purposes as well.

I just removed two decals off Will's ski on Tuesday night using my little orange heater, took about 40 seconds to warm up the decal, get the corner started then peel it right off. Then used a quick shot of brake cleaner on some residue left over with a stiff rag. I actually think it took longer to untangle the extension cord to get the heat gun out to the driveway than it did to remove the decals.

Buy one at home Depot, use it and return it. Tell them you were afraid you might burn something and don't feel safe. Did I just say that?

yip you just did lol

my experience with decals is thats its not ALWAYS a piece of cake, some can be very stubborn, but I've learned that the trick is to move the heat around the whole decal, always moving for a good 30-40 seconds (longer if its a BIG decal) just to loosen up the adhesive underneath, hitting all areas of the decal, not just your starting point. don't hit it so long that things wrinkle up, (because then it gets brittle and tears) then go back to your start point, get your fingernail under a good edge, and pull carefully, slowly, using multiple fingers so as not to tear the decal from edge to edge... if it goes right, the whole thing will come off in one big piece.

good luck
