i have a 1995 gti seadoo i bought it want spin over buy button . the 5 amp fuse aint blowing . i can jump it at selonoid and it will spin over but no fire to plugs .can this be the keys needs reprogramming? or a bad mpem . seems like every thing is shut down .. i can get a couple beeps when push the starter button 5 times ?

if it has a DESS post its a 96....the 95 didnt.

hitting the start button till it lights up typically tells you the system is working.

If the gauge doesnt light up at all when you put the key on, put a magnet over the post. Do the light up for a sec?

If it lights up for a sec when you put the key on, its the wrong key, or somehow it got unprogrammed.

If it lights up with the magnet and not the key, the key is bad.

If it does not light up with the key OR the magnet, the post is bad.

1996

sorry it is a 1996 i will try that tonight thks . it seems like the security system is on even with the landard attached.

When you put the key on it sends a signal to the MPEM; if that "signal" specific to your key matches the MPEM it turns on, then the magnet in the key lifts and holds a reed switch inside the post to keep the ignition on.

If the magnet wont lift the reedswitch it wont work. If the reedswitch doesnt lift, it wont work. Typically its the post.

i put a magnet on the post still nothing . no lights on the dash . i hooked my test light clamp to the hot side of battery , and touched the point to the 2 wires on selonoid they show a ground . i touched the wire goin to coil it showed to be a ground also . would this be because the key isnt working and not the mpem ?

Typically people connect their test light to ground and touch positive wires. You should get a light on the hot side of the solinoid, and anything hooked to the little red wires that are connected to that post.

Doesnt really matter though....the dash lights up when you hit the start button 5 times or whatever? If it does, then I would say your DESS post is bad if it didnt light up with a magnet over the post.

what if i jump the two wires goin to the post shouldnt that light up the dash and let me know if it is the post?

There are 3 wires...

Safety Lanyard Switch
The following continuity tests can be performed
using an ohmmeter:
Disconnect switch wires.
Safety Lanyard Removed
Connect test probes to switch BLACK and BLACK/
YELLOW wires. Measure resistance, there should
be no continuity (open circuit).
Connect one test probe to the WHITE/GRAY wire
and the other test probe to the switch terminal.
Measure resistance, it must be close to 0 ohm.
Connect one test probe to the BLACK wire and
the other test probe to the switch ring. Measure
resistance, it must be close to 0 ohm.
Safety Lanyard on Switch
Connect test probes to switch BLACK and BLACK/
YELLOW wires. Measure resistance, it must be
close to 0 ohm.

crazy ski. now when i hit starter button it beeps one loud beep nothing else no lights at all .i can hit the starter button with the key removed and a low steady beep until i put the key back on and hit starter button once . the wire goin from the hot side one battery to selonoid is hot . the wire from starter to selonoid is a ground is this supposed to be like that.

You need to get your wire names correct

Positive=red wire=hot NEVER GROUND Should go from battery to solinoid, then from solinoid to starter.

Negative=black wire=ground Should go from battery to mounting bolt on starter to GROUND the motor.

So you get nothing with the key? You get nothing with a magnet over the DESS post?

Take a pliers and touch the two posts on the solinoid; it will spark and it should engage the starter and turn over. Does it?

lol lmao i know wire from selonoid to sarter which is red is ground take it off and all grounds in computer box gone no fire in box at all connect it back to starter and ski has ground once again why is that. some thing aint correct the wire going from starter to selonoid switch has to be hot it is a ground it is red and is a ground? wire from battery on plus side which is red goin to selonoid is hot . red wire from selonoid to battery is red and it is 100 percent showing to be a ground. if i take the wire off starter every thing in box is cut off no grounds any where on black wires in the box where mpem is located . i can hook it back up and all grounds are back but still only 1 beep when i hit starter button no other firing cranking dash lights or any thing

We cant help you with that description. A red wire is NEVER GROUND.

The red wire from the solinoid to the starter has NOTHING to do with power to the Ebox. The ebox power comes from the little red wire connected to the same post on the solinoid that the big red wire is that goes to the positive on the battery.

Ground goes from the negitive of the battery to the mounting bolt of the starter; NOT ON THE 10mm POST! That grounds the engine, and that ground gets passed to the ebox via the black wire on the stator. On later models they have a extra black wire.
