Congrats on a successful build!

haha, thanks! Not to brag, but I honestly rarely make mistakes with this kind of stuff, it would have been the cheap ass SBT parts if there was an issue lmao.

And, I know I posted it in my other thread, but since it is all good, here is a pic of the final product :)-

you know, you kill me, u started a thread before, i believe askin about sbt, and now you say cheap ass parts ???? why did you buy em for ??? if you ever went to sbt and checked out the place, bet you would change your mind...... do u mean asian parts ??? asian bearings ???? whats in a honda or a toyota ??? that place is super technical on just about everything they do, ive seen it first hand, on a problem i didnt figure out, and they did, it cost them a motor to help me figure a problem out... this company, with the so called cheap ass parts, will warranty a motor in 45 minutes , if u walk in the door with it -- oh, they will take it out of your truck, give coffee and a donut, give another install gskt kit -- and tell you -- if u have another problem, bring it back -- with a smile

That was said tongue-in-cheek, playing off of their reputation- hence the "lmao" at the end. Also, for the record, "Asian" parts don't bother me, "Chinese" parts do leave some to be desired, but are functional- otherwise I wouldn't have used the SBT parts.

They are MUCH better than they used to be, but their raw materials still aren't 100% up to par. I have tons of experience with Chinese made/machined parts (outside of PWC) and some of them are flat out laughable compared to US, German, Taiwan, etc. parts.

Edit- also, I have never started a thread asking about SBT parts- I know all I need to know about them. I had a thread talking about rebuilding my motor using SBT parts because I don't trust SBT to assemble my motor, and you chimed in about their facilities. That is just me and personal preference. It could be a tossup between myself or the guy at Bombardier who designed the motor and I still only trust what I see with my own eyes.. Been a mechanic long enough to know that I do not trust anybody else to work on my stuff. Sad but true :(..

Let's go! When you heading up here? Are you available during the week at all? I am planning on definitely going out Tuesday (weather permitting).

hmmm,
water levels extremely low on the peace right now..so i doubt we'll go to Charlotte county, but there are only two of us riding this weekend so maybe we could do the harbor and the lower peace, its a thought.

I know we're riding sunday, and i think the original plan was riding the caloosahatchee from Alva to Labelle, about noonish but nothing is set in stone. and actually since your needing a break in, you actually need a quiet smooth river ride with some dock's to sit on while the ski cools... the offer is open if you want to come down to ft myers.

weekday's i have a tough time sneaking out, unless I stay local, its a busy time of year for me at the office, quiets down to a crawl around Mid december, but the next month is a busy one.

My wife is working, so I have my son during the day today and tomorrow. I was thinking I would have her parents watch him and hit the water, but forgot they were away for the week :(. I might just hit the peace with him for a little bit. He's only 4, so he has to sit in front of me and I can't really have any fun lol. I know all about the low levels- I found out the hard way on the GSI last week haha.

Just to rub it in more, I took this Sunday on the way back in with the boat- after a day on the water, docking at a restaurant for lunch and spending time on the beach :D.

update? have you had the rfi back out and its running good ?

i'm not riding this weekend, family stuff, but i'd like to plan a ride for the 16th...

was thinking the Harbor again and the lower peace as far as water levels allow if your interested note: its our 2nd option right now vs riding from Alva to Labelle along the Caloosahatchee waterway, its a bit of a boring ride, at least compared to the peace. the only problem with the 16th at the peace is low tide is at noon, which is a terrible time, so if anything it would be an afternoon ride, after 2pm launch, the 23rd at the peace is a better option with tides perfect (high 2pm) but that's Christmas eve eve, generally a bad day to ride with honey do stuff needing done.

when the rains start up again my group will be riding the upper peace from Arcadia to Brownsville a few times so i'll be sure to let you know, its worth the tow, there is some really nice trail riding up there, i look forward to it every summer.

Yup, both skis are running great! The 16th "sounds" good right now, just gonna have to play it by ear as my wife is due the 19th lol. I would love to get out and ride though, I haven't ridden the ski in about 2 weeks :(.

if the RFI is same as carb model CBS than from memory the 30mls of oil in the CBS can leak into the main crank compartment there was nothing stopping it if u have the engine laying on its side u might have no oil in there anymore

just remember a properly rebuilt engine will make no noises other than a pop and suck from the exhaust u shouldnt hear any ticking or bearing noises

just a thought heres a faulty bearing on a 787 this crank made a "tick" or ball bearing dropping sound when turned over by hand im not sure if SBT uses metal or plastic bearing spacers but the plastic sure is a .... design imo
