I have a 1997 GTX, today I went to start it it there was no response. I unplugged the key, plugged it back in and tried again. I started to get a loud buzz when I pushed the starter button and the digital gauges would flash on and off. I kept giggling the key and pushing the start button and it finally started. Any ideas what the problem might be? If it happens when I am out on the river any ideas how to by-pass the problem so I can get it started and, get home?

The battery is not dead, and I have removed the battery cables and and cleaned them, that did not change the problem. The non-start is intermittant. If I wiggle the key sometimes the PWC will start. Sometime I get the correct 2 short beep single as recognition of the key and sometimes I do not. Sometimes, it start even without the 2 short beep signal.

OK... those aren't the symptoms you listed at first.

Your lanyard post is dirty, or going bad. Also... your buzzer may be going bad. those are both common issues.
